Competitons
We run a number of golf days and events throughout the year. The season opens with a match against the WLGS followed by the President's Cup, 27 holes with the last 9 subject to a quirky rule nominated by the President on the day. This is followed by our Charity Medal at which we aim to raise as much as possible for our selected charities. Over the last three years we have raised over £4000 but we are determined to raise even more this year. The society's main event is the magnificent Summer Tour which includes the Barbill Open Championship, a stableford competition played over four arduous rounds, a 36-hole cut competition for the Crystal Ball and the Riley Cup, team match play at it's toughest. We then play 27 holes for the Barbill Bell in the Autumn and The Masters on New Year's Eve. We also compete for the Fourballs Championship, a season-long pairs competition and the Order of Merit which rewards the season's most consistent golfer. WAGS and friends are invited to our annual dinner early each year to celebrate the previous season and its victors and to look forward to that which is forthcoming.

Order Of Merit
The Order Of Merit runs for the duration of each season with members scoring points in each competition according to where they are placed. The member with the highest number of points at the end of each calendar year will be declared the Society's Champion Golfer.
Points are awarded for the President's Cup, Charity Medal, Barbill Bell and Masters as follows:
1st - 20, 2nd - 19, 3rd - 18, 4th - 17 and so on decreasing by 1 point per place.
Points are awarded for the Open Championship, including the Crystal Ball, as follows:
1st - 30, 2nd - 28, 3rd - 26, 4th - 25 and so on decreasing by 1 point per place.
In the event of any ties, excluding 1st place, the points available across those positions are shared.
Splitting Ties
Unless otherwise specified, all BBGS competitions will use the count-back system to split ties for all positions. Where players are tied, the player whose score over the last 18 holes will be placed higher. If players are still tied, the player whose score over the last 9, then 6, then 3 holes will be placed higher. If players are still tied, the player whose score on the hole marked stroke index 1 will be placed higher. If players are yet still tied, the Society's committee will convene to decide upon extraordinary measures to split the players. Where a play-off system may be in place in order to determine the winner of certain events, unless otherwise specified, all remaining places will be determined by the aforementioned count-back system.
Distance-measuring devices
In all BBGS competitions a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance using technology such as GPS. However, if, during any round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, wind-speed, temperature), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification from the competition.
